The last sentence of this is just absurd to the point of being beautiful.
Stan Crock argues in his column that the Bush team doctrine is (my words) idiotic, ineffective, and actually counterproductive. I am beginning to think that everyone knows this, but only 52% of Americans dare to admit it.
OK, setting self-discipline aside for a moment (our biggest problem,) here’s an interesting article about how our eating habits are out of step with our evolution.
The world of virtual, yet valuable goods is creating interesting and humorous confusion among companies trying to figure out what and how to “insure”.
Daniel Schorr of the Christian Science Monitor discusses his experience with high-profile unnamed sources, and the test the press might go through again.
Alternet has a great piece on the passing of a great author, Neil Postman - and the tie-in to the California Election Circus.
This article about the new “legalize and tax marijuana” ads is great. I am especially interested in these oh-so-logical words from DC Councilman Jim Graham:
“These ads are intolerable, and we need to review our policies so that First Amendment considerations are not allowed to compel us to accept this type of advertising.” Graham claimed to believe in the First Amendment, “but we are being carried to limits here that no one can tolerate. When it leads us down this kind of path, we must find another option,” he added.
Can someone explain that one to me?
