I sure hope there’s more to this story. Arresting children for drawing something violent? Have we lost our collective minds in this country? We have all done this – or at least every boy has.
Anthony: did you know that the “iraqi security forces” wear ski masks so no one knows they work “with the westerners”?
Anthony: there’s a recipe that’s working, eh?
Geech: seems to be!
Anthony: did you know there are no names on the ballots so as to prevent assassinations?
Anthony: did you know the polling places are still secret?
Anthony: jesus god
Anthony: i just cant believe how fucking dumb we are
Geech: yeah, that is some priceless shit
Geech: and it is so cool how Bush is so adamant that that everyone there go out to vote
Geech: as if it won’t be a fucking turkey shoot
Geech: Dear Mr. President, that is the ONE day when it makes the most sense to hide under your fucking bed if you live in Iraq
Anthony: indeed
Anthony: who will vote? the suicide bombers will, i bet
Geech: actions speak louder than ballots
Anthony: oh and civilians have to stop 100 feet from US checkpoints, then there is a hand signal when they can proceed
Anthony: nice way to connect with the people – ya know, winning hearts and minds and such
Geech: but remember, this is NOT an occupation
Geech: they MUST have liberty!
Geech: even if it kills them
Despite my skepticism that Huygens was going to work, it looks as if the probe has successfully landed on a “soft” surface and continues its transmissions. I gotta say I am in awe.
“01.14.05 (10:15 a.m. ET) – Radio telescopes on Earth confirm that the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) Huygens probe has landed on the surface of Titan. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has turned its antenna to Earth and will relay the data received from the probe over the next few hours to NASA’s Deep Space Network. It takes one hour and 7 minutes for the signal to travel from Cassini to Earth. The European Space Agency will get the first look at that data at approximately 11:30 a.m. EST.”

I still get tripped out thinking I might be in the middle of a really twisted version of Space Quest.
The Calorie Restriction Society can help you live longer and healthier. It is actually quite amazing the effect of reducing one’s caloric intake while remaining cognizant of nutrition.
Back from Renaissance Weekend, which was grand. However, I feel like crap. Traveling around the holidays sucks even if the actual traveling is glitch free (as mine was, luckily). While people who snap their gum for the entire flight are annoying, the ones that are sick and hacking are moreso and I worry that is why I feel like I do right now. Crossing my fingers for my immune system right now…. early to bed!
Had tremendous fun into the New Year’s morning … was up with mostly cool people until about 6:00am. After a little bit of shut-eye I actually made it over to the New Year’s Day brunch before 10am and was very proud about that. After a short wrap-up session, many of us spent time saying goodbyes and then I had a relatively painless journey home…
