See two | interesting TIME articles from this week. I’m no fan of Timothy Leary, so I dislike one of the titles – but nonetheless, it’s great to see the mainstream media take another baby step in the direction of our lost rationality.
Most of you already know what I think about the subject, but here are a couple refreshers.
Chris Hansen’s To Catch A Predator series has undoubtedly been great television. I think it even attracted an actual predator or two, such as the sketchy guy who showed up at 4AM with tape and rope in his trunk and whispered through the screen for her to come out… ok, I grant you, that’s a bona fide mouse in the trap. Oh – and the skeezy, sandal-wearing, coin-jingling Rabbi.
First of all: Chris, there’s a hilarious SNL skit living inside your show just waiting to come out.

At a speech today in Alliance, Ohio, Karl Rove told the audience that a loss in Iraq meant that “they will follow.” Then, he was asked:

“It was amazing. Almost instantaneously.. updating people on the latest newswires, coming in with pictures – I mean, it was really almost serving as a news and information source for a lot of people who couldn’t access a TV or a phone.”

I have a bunch of colors and variations, but the main image will give you the idea. I decided to try the “open source” path to setting them free. In a nutshell: John Fluevog might make them, if folks are interested enough. So – help them become a reality by voting (once.)
Yeah, probably – according to Dr. Nick Bostrom of Oxford’s philosophy department.
I’m posting just to post something, I owe y’all one. A big thing on my mind right now is the US Presidency, and the sad truth that the current officeholder will inevitably be seen as the worst and most damaging in history – that is, if the nation makes it far enough to see it in the rearview mirror. The odds of impeachment rose this week considerably. The Republican Party is in serious danger already – and I think the party may well abandon this administration (that is, do the morally right thing) in order to preserve itself in 2008 and beyond. There seems to be a revolt within the party against the WH and its neocons – especially among young emerging party leaders – and that’s probably the only thing that is capable of keeping the party alive. Not that I care.
