The Chris Matthews I Knew And Loved

Over the last couple of years, I’ve felt Chris Matthews shriveling. I still admire him and respect him. I mean, relative to the ridiculous wink-nudge softball practiced by his colleagues such as Tim Russert, he’s still a strong political journalist. But he’s faded over the years – he’s become gentler, sipping up guests’ talking points, playing kiss-up, and generally disappointing those of us who are outraged at the media’s willingness to let officials repeat the same two-cent brain-candy soundbites without challenge. Over the years he’s seemed to have fallen into the beltway journalist trap.

But tonight I saw the old Chris Matthews, and I liked it.

Price Is Right – Ciao, Bob

I stumbled across the special Price Is Right show tonight – legendary Bob Barker’s last show. I used to watch it as a kid, and it amazes me that he is still shuffling around that stage giving people cheesy luggage and the occasional Chevy.

Tenet’s ShitStorm

Today, Tenet, in his media tour of shirking responsibility and creating his own history, told Chris Matthews that one of the things we really need to do is hunt down and account for all the fissile material. In the same breath, he speaks of “generational challenge.”

Browser Color Management is Bugging Me

Most of us assume that when we visit someone’s online photo album, or send along images to our friends, that we’re all pretty much seeing the same image. We could all be forgiven for not thinking too much about color levels, white point, and other visual ingredients that are fairly key to the experience. Well, the truth is, it varies enormously.
