Peggy Noonan with a smart piece about dialogue and its importance in political discourse. The UFlorida taser kid could have fit nicely within, too. Let them all speak if we are to find our way home again.

Hey idiots, why not turn out nonessential lights anyway? Turning out lights you’re not using should not be a special occasion.

The Court felt her Constitutional rights were shit, because it was possible that she might be hiding Advil. Writing for the majority (and scripting another step in our descent into civil liberties hell), Judge Richard Clifton said that there was “good reason to be extra vigilant” in looking for drugs. Story here.
In similar developments, pick up that cake, “nappy-head”.

At the LA County fair last week, they were serving something called “fried coke.” Now my first thought was: gosh, what a waste of a perfectly good eight ball. But no, they actually pour Coca-Cola syrup into a deep fryer, then put it in a cup and top it with sugar and whipped cream and a cherry (because, y’know, fruit is good for ya.) Would it really be that much more unhealthy to get molested by one of the carnies?
In Hillary Clinton’s health care plan, the words “nutrition” and “exercise” appear once. The word “drugs” - fourteen times. Just as the pharmaceutical companies wanted. You know, their ad weasels love to say “when diet and exercise fail..” Well, diet and exercise don’t fail. A fact brought home last week by a new Duke University study that showed that exercise - yes, exercise - is just as effective a cure for depression as Paxil and Zoloft. So, ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

This is interesting to say the least. Gives the conspiracy theorists some room to run, for sure. But in the shadowy underworld of international “business”, material changes hands - and we all know there aren’t many hops from the CIA to Central American drug trafficking.

A decent, short general-audience piece on why it’s happening, why it’ll get worse, and why it may not be orderly.

A few months ago, I wrote to Senator Feinstein expressing my outrage about Gonzales and the cabal, their unconstitutional behavior, and my suggestion that she demand his firing. A few days ago, I received her response: Read the rest of this entry »

These days - with your lame pop tarts, AutoTune, overdubbing and such - most o’ you kids aren’t familiar with what raw, unprocessed voice talent sounds like. A reminder herein. Crappy video, but you’ll get the drift.

The penny debate should not be what the new ones look like - the debate should be whether we need them at all.

Oh Jesus f*cking Christ, when will the madness end? Now we’ve got John Walters, the Bush Administration’s national War On Some Drugs chief, claiming that pot growers,
“are armed.. dangerous… violent criminal terrorists” [who] “wouldn’t hesitate to help other terrorists get into the country with the aim of causing mass casualties.”
Do any rational human beings really believe this? I find it to be absolutely over-the-top, beyond-words ridiculous.

This article purports to offer tips to becoming an early riser. My personal experience in this is a tad tortured. I’ve always enjoyed the feeling of being awake early in the morning - up and about and doing my shizznat. But it rarely happens. I love being up early; I hate getting up early. As suspected, the Kingdom is taking new steps to eliminate the dollar peg, and hasn’t moved its rates in lockstep for the first time. And, the dollar hits a record low against the Euro. This is a very, very serious situation.

My pal Ralph Hallow is reporting tomorrow that McCain has only raised $3.7M for the third quarter and that a campaign insider says the campaign is “done for.”
“The hope was to reach $4.5 million, about a third of what was raised in the ‘disastrous’ second quarter,” said the insider… “Those are gross numbers, not net. Plus the campaign is carrying $2.5 to $3 million in debt. [He's] done for.”
As I told Ralph, I will not be mourning. McCain is a shell of who he was in ‘00 - I actually supported him then. But wow, did that guy come off the tracks. Ciao, Senator.
