carnivals are full of people with masks on. the masks are licenses to deviate from the normal rules.
or maybe it's just my coulrophobia... i don't know. my one and only time at chuck-e-cheeses, the giant mouse mascot, chuck, came up to our table... sitting there i had this vision of the thing going back into the dressing room and taking off the mouse suit.. and inside it would be this giant rat.
