Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Christmas Canon Rock

23 12 2007

I thought this kicked some serious holiday ass. I had never heard of TSO until I caught this song on the radio today. This is TSO’s stirring Christmas re-interpretation of Pachelbel’s Canon in D major – with great electric guitar that somehow doesn’t “unwarm” the emotion of the song.

The angelic blondes with incredible voices wearing leather collars don’t hurt, either. [I believe the siren attempting to steal my heart from stage left* is Jennifer Cella.]

Merry Christmas.

*- for you non-theater types, that means the one on your right.

Starck Says Kindle “A Little Sad”

14 12 2007

I was perusing Amazon’s Kindle a couple of nights ago and was very unmoved. It reminds me, sadly, of one of those old European Minitel terminals. Gotta agree with Phillipe.

Iowa And Eye Candy

12 12 2007

Me babbling in an Iowa newspaper (far prouder than my “top tier” babbling, which has gotten me into much more trouble) – and the Clinton camp desperately jumping on Obama for same.

And, some morsels of eye candy:

Abandoned Places Photography

7 12 2007

I am fascinated by abandoned places – wish I could photograph them more frequently.  By “abandoned places” I mean buildings, offices, homes, anything that once was busy and is now dead, especially if it sits (relatively) as it was.  A number of years ago I wandered through an old abandoned medical facility in Maine and saw calendars, pens, notes, coffee cups, etc.. something about that feels neat to me – as if you’re looking directly into the past.

On that note, check out Haiko Hebig’s stuff.
