There really are people out there who believe print media will survive the long term. A couple of years ago, Don Imus asked TIME managing editor Walter Isaacson if he thought TIME would be around in 100 years or if the Internet will have turned it into a fully digital experience. Isaacson actually said he thought TIME would be in print 100 years hence. I swear I am not making this up.
This news that the Journal‘s print ad revenue is down over 7% for the month – and TIME‘s circulation is down a jarring 17%. This doesn’t surprise many of us – but it must come as quite a jolt to those who think print will last another century.
